Greetings from Aalto Finance

The beginning of the year

As the year began, a new board stepped in their roles, continuing the long-standing tradition of commitment and focus on delivering the best to the community. Already during the first months of the year, Aalto Finance has hit the ground running with a strong set of activities.

Classic Aalto Finance events like the After Exams and Major Night for first year students have been memorable high-class events and as popular as ever. Also, newer events like the First Year Women's Brunch have kept their popularity and are on their way to becoming new classics.

During the first 4 months of 2025, the new board has already secured most of the planned events for the year, and Aalto Finance looks set for another successful year. Many more After Exams, treks to Stockholm and London, the Poker Tournament, and Business Golf will be held as in the years before, and the calendar is booked for the whole year except for the summer holidays, which have traditionally been the quiet season for Aalto Finance.

Focusing on continuity

One of the main strategic pillars for Aalto Finance in 2025 is to keep increasing the stability of operations. Aalto Finance is fostering relationships with our corporate partners and our alumni with the goal of having the relationships continue across years and boards. Historically, this has been achieved. The longest-standing corporate partnerships and events go further back in time than the current president can backtrack. Our goal is to leave a similar legacy to the boards to come, through a professional, ambitious, and humble mindset every day.

A large part of the continuity is naturally our ever-growing alumni community. This year we are supporting AFA in organizing the Graduating students’ dinner and are trying to create a community among the students that is welcoming and strong enough to last even after graduation.

Even when the annual calendar is full of classic events and proven successful concepts, we are trying to bring something new to the table as previous boards have done. Current initiatives include a broader set of career insight events to both showcase different opportunities finance can give as well as boost the job applications of our students in the currently very competitive playing field. Additionally, one to two yet undisclosed new events are currently being planned.

The evolving role of Aalto Finance

Aalto Finance finds itself in a fortunate yet demanding position, being recognized and well-regarded by students across different disciplines and schools, as well as by companies both in Finland and internationally. A large portion of the students we serve now through our channels and events are not Finance majors at Aalto, and the number of our corporate partners is growing year by year. Last year, Aalto Finance held the largest Stockholm trek yet, with 8 company visits, and this year we are visiting even more companies, to all of which we are representing not just Aalto Finance, but the top of Finnish business talent in general. To many of our partners, we are not just the gateway to reaching the students of Finance, but the students at Aalto University.

This, of course, means Aalto Finance needs to keep delivering at a level suitable for the role and make sure we are up to the expectations and keep our relevance, while maintaining the core of Aalto Finance as the subject club of Finance students at Aalto University.

Anyone with ideas to improve Aalto Finance can contact us directly any day or time of the year.
