Greetings from Aalto Finance

The beginning of the year

A new board assumed its responsibilities at the start of the year, upholding the tradition of ambition and service that has long defined Aalto Finance. The first quarter has been eventful, with the board moving quickly to confirm the vast majority of planned activities for 2026 and setting the stage for a year that promises to be as strong as any before it.

Time-honored formats such as After Exams and Major Night have once again delivered the high-quality experiences the community has come to expect, drawing excellent turnout. The Women's Wellness Event, now in its second edition, continued to grow and is fast becoming a fixture in the annual lineup.

Alongside these, we have placed a deliberate emphasis on bringing international career opportunities closer to our students: a CV Workshop and a Hedge Fund Insight session hosted with international partners were among the highlights of the spring. In response to growing interest among students in startups, a new, expanded Finance Startup event will follow in the autumn. The full calendar — treks to Stockholm and London, the Poker Tournament, Business Golf, and much more — is locked in through the end of the year. A particular highlight will be the Annual Ball, held in June 13th at the Helsinki Stock Exchange building. Alumni are warmly invited to join us for the occasion.

Continuity and community

Strengthening the long-term stability of Aalto Finance remains a central strategic priority. Our most enduring corporate partnerships and traditions reach back further than anyone on the current board can trace, and our ambition is to leave the same kind of foundation for those who come after us — guided each day by professionalism, drive, and humility.

Our alumni community is at the heart of this continuity. This year we are once again supporting AFA in hosting the Graduating Students' Dinner, and we remain committed to fostering a culture strong and welcoming enough to outlast anyone's time on campus. A vital expression of this is our mentoring programme, which connects current students with alumni who generously share their experience and guidance. It embodies what makes this community genuinely valuable: the willingness of its members to help one another. We are deeply thankful to every alumnus who has contributed, and we warmly encourage others to take part.

On the academic side, a significant change has now been confirmed. Beginning in spring 2027, students will be able for the first time to apply directly from high school into a renewed Finance bachelor's programme. The reformed curriculum will be taught in English from the outset and will sharpen its focus on economics, programming, and accounting, replacing a portion of the broader multidisciplinary studies. We will be closely involved with the department in this transition, and we see a natural opportunity for Aalto Finance to help raise awareness among prospective students already at the high school level.

The evolving role of Aalto Finance

Aalto Finance today serves a community that extends well beyond Finance majors. A considerable share of the students who engage with our events and channels study in other programmes, and our network of corporate partners — Finnish and international alike — continues to expand. On the Stockholm trek, we once again visited nine companies, and at every stop represented not only Aalto Finance but the best of Finnish business talent at large. For many of our partners, we have become the primary gateway to Aalto's student body as a whole.

This position is both a privilege and a responsibility. It calls for consistently strong execution while never losing sight of our identity as the subject club of Finance students at Aalto University. Even as the programme reform brings a more defined student body, we intend to keep collaborating broadly with other student associations and clubs, as we believe Aalto Finance is at its best when it is an active part of the wider Aalto community.

We welcome ideas from anyone who wishes to help shape the future of Aalto Finance. Reach out to us any day of the year.
